Welcome to Lincoln County Niagara’s Fruit Belt. Lincoln County consists of several small communities including the villages of: Beamsville, Campden, Jordan, Jordan Harbour, Jordan Station, Pelham Union, Rockway, Tintern, Vineland and Vineland Station.
Rich in History, Lincoln County is known for its fruit production, Lake Ontario Shorline, Jordan Harbour and rolling vineyards for which Vineland takes its name. The town of Beamsville was where hockey players in 1898 first used a hockey net. The First Mennonite Church in Vineland is the oldest Mennonite congregation in Canada founded by Dutch Pennsylvania Mennonites who walked up from the United States in 1799. They settled the villages of Jordan and Vineland. Good hunting and fishing as well as excellent soil and waterways attracted these early settlers.
With a large natural harbour at the mouth of Twenty Creek, Jordan and Jordan Station became busy shipping centres for the export of logs for masts, tan bark, hides, ashes used in industrial centres for the manufacture of soap, as well as grain, flour, fruit and fruit products.
Today, Lincoln County is a leading area for tender fruit production and grape growing. Its wines are achieving international recognition and winning awards for quality. “Greenhouse Friendly” Lincoln also has the largest concentration of greenhouse operators in Canada.
